Acrylic on canvas
24” x 36” | 2026
“Blurry Lights” didn’t begin blurry, rather clear. A focus. A vision. A plan of the composition. And, like many paintings, the paint and your emotions, take over, and you learn to let go and listen to the guidance instead of pushing the paint.
Six layers of blue. Texture applied, sanded, re-applied. Then colors of inspiration, capturing the rhythm and texture of sound created by Ax and the Hatchetmen and their original song. Depth resides in the beat peppered with lyrics that circulate back around. The image of the song transposed onto a canvas.
“One more song, calm me down
Lift me up, wash me out”
